A fierce battle is raging on the Placencia Peninsula, and it’s not just over beachfront properties! The feud is between two of the biggest names in Belizean real estate: Boris Mannsfeld and Frik de Meyere. What began as a successful partnership has now devolved into a war of words, shocking accusations, and mysterious deaths that have rocked this coastal community.
The story begins with Boris Mannsfeld, the owner of Boris Mannsfeld and Associates (BMA), and Frik de Meyere, his former General Manager.
For years, the duo were a powerhouse in the Placencia real estate market, leading one of the area’s most successful firms. But everything changed in late August 2023, when tragedy struck with the killing of Richard Borja.
Borja’s death was the first domino in a series of grim events. Shortly after, Frik De Meyere was briefly detained by police for questioning but was later released. By early September, Mannsfeld publicly announced that de Meyere was no longer associated with his company, stating, “BMA will continue to provide our clients and the community in the Placencia area with the very best professional real estate services.”
However, the calm façade soon shattered. A week ago, Mannsfeld sent out a notice to his customers, accusing de Meyere of sabotaging the company’s emails and website in a malicious act.
But this was only the beginning. In a dramatic escalation, Mannsfeld released a 37-page dossier filled with detailed accusations against Frik De Meyere, alleging a complex web of fraudulent land transactions.
Mannsfeld’s statement outlines a chilling conspiracy involving not just de Meyere, but also deceased individuals like Borja and Darren Taylor, aka “Dalla Coin,” who was killed in his Dangriga home two months ago. According to Mannsfeld, the scam involves creating fraudulent wills for properties belonging to deceased individuals whose estates have not been settled. These false documents, allegedly backed by bribed court employees, would then be used to transfer land to the fraudsters, effectively stealing the property from the rightful heirs.
In a haunting voice recording made days before his death, Borja confessed to his involvement, stating, “When it comes to passports and titles, I do not create it. I knew that titles were created and that it all started through doing grants of administration permits… I found at least 13 of them.”
Mannsfeld’s allegations are specific, citing a particular case involving parcel 36-61-1620 on the Placencia peninsula. He claims that the property, originally owned by Karen Hugh Sam Lee from Jamaica, was fraudulently transferred after her death using a fake will that named a Belizean with a likely false identity as the heir. This property was then transferred to a company linked to the scheme’s orchestrators.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. Mannsfeld’s statement ends with a dire warning, highlighting the deaths of Borja and Taylor as dark omens and threatening to release all the evidence to international media and U.S. politicians if any harm comes to him or his associates.
Channel 7 News Belize has reached out to Frik De Meyere for comment, and he categorically denied the allegations, calling them “100% defamatory” and stated that he is consulting with his lawyer. As this drama continues to unfold, all eyes are on Placencia, waiting to see how this high-stakes real estate war will play out.
Will justice prevail, or will more secrets be unearthed in this deadly game of land and lies?
